Good morning, I hope you are all okay.

So, here is half term and as promised I've put together a gallery of work and some activities for you to do if you fancy doing some work to keep you occupied, in lockdown. 

I will send some messages this week, just to check in, but not everyday. I will be busy planning our amazing topic, for next term; writing reports and planning for some of us to return to school soon.

The song I've sent you today is one of my favourites (I know I say that a lot, but I have loads of favourites, and when you been listening to records for as long as I have, they tend to build up!)

It's a song by a very famous song writing duo called Bacherach and David but has been recorded by one of my favourite artists called Jim O'Rourke. Jim O'Rourke was responsible for a lot of the guitar playing in the film School of Rock, for anyone whose interested.

Good morning class 2. Well the weather couldn't be more different today! Ive woken up to grey and wet, at least the garden will be pleased.

I have, again loved seeing your amazing work this week, I will put it all into a gallery for you to see, on Sunday. I can't believe that it's half term already! the term has been a short one but it's gone so fast.

I will send some things on Sunday, for you to choose to do, if you want to, over half term. I'll be spending half term planning for what school is going to look like, when we start to have some of our children back. I still think we are a long way off normal, but it's a start.

The song I am sending you today is a rousing anthem; It's a song to sing along to; it's a song that should make you feel awake and full of life. It's called Wake up and is by a band called Arcade Fire. Some of you may know it, if you've seen the film Where the wild things are. See how it makes you feel. Would you put it on your playlist? Hello, what a wonderful day we had, yesterday. I hope you all enjoyed the sunshine, whilst listening to your play lists. I've been using lockdown to teach myself the ukulele, which is coming along quite well. It's very different to playing the guitar and the bass guitar, but lots of fun. 

We are all inspired by Grayson Perry's art club here. Grayson Perry is a British artist, who usually works in ceramics. He and his wife have an art club on channel 4, and encourage the great British public to create art and he's going to make an exhibition, when all of this is over. Mr Brown jnr has been drawing trees; little miss Brown has been painting portraits, of her favourite pop stars and Mrs Brown has been painting flowers. I have been painting birds, using the iPad, its all great fun and its great to be creative in these strange times.

I have sent you a soul song today. I was looking back at our playlist and realised I hadn't sent you any Soul music, which will never do.

Good Morning and what a lovely sunny day it is looking today.

It's definitely got louder here in Tealby over the last week or so. Lots more cars, motorbikes and work noises than there were. That is why I love this time of the morning, when all you can hear are the birds singing and Luna snoring! 

I have listened to a lot of songs, this morning, trying to get the right one, so many songs so little time.

I have chosen 'Road to nowhere" by a band called 'Talking heads.' It's a quirky song from the 1980s. Can you hear any instruments you wouldn't normally hear in a rock song? Listen to the rhythm, does the beat change? Would the song be the same without it?

Hello, how are you all getting on? Okay I hope.

We are okay in the Brown household, ticking along. I hope you are enjoying our final week of Playlist. You can, of course, keep doing any of these lessons during half term. The joy of putting them on here, is that you can scroll back, and complete anything you've missed.

The song I'm sending you today has been played quite a lot recently, for the NHS, who are defiantly heroes. It's by a  very important singer/songwriter called David Bowie, who had been releasing songs since the 1960s. This song came out in the 1970s but became very famous, when he played it at the Live Aid concert (1985), which was a big live event put on to raise money for the poor in Ethiopia. Live aid was shown around the world and raised millions.

So, when listening to Heroes, think about those people, who are working tirelessly, through this crisis, putting their lives at risk in order to keep us safe.

When listening to this song how does it make you feel? does it make you think positively? Listen closely to the music, what do you think is making the sounds you can hear? How do those sounds add to the track? 

I've also added a little lesson on mountains, just so we can reminisce, and remember what we learned way back when, before Christmas, which seem like a very long time ago now!

Well Hello and happy Sunday. 

I hope you are enjoying your warmish weekend.

I rescued a baby bird yesterday. I could hear a kerfuffle in the utility and saw Luna standing between the cat and a small shape tucked into a corner. I didn't give it much hope, but when I picked it up it sat in my hand blinking, in shock, but not harmed at all. I took it to little miss Brown, who has helped me to rescue many tiny furry and feathered things over the years and we gave it some food and put it carefully outside, high up away from danger. We checked in on it and it flew away.

The song I'm sending you today is perfect for a Sunday morning. It's by a band from the 1960s that are called The Mamas and Papas. Its a much older song, that they covered, but their version is the one that most people remember.

Good Morning all, is everybody is okay?

Well, it looks to be another sunny day, it always feels better when the sun is shining. 

I hope you are enjoying the cover versions this week? I am always fascinated when people cover other peoples songs, at how different they make them. Sometimes, it's barely the same song. I've sent you a very early 1980's song today, which is all produced on synthesisers and drum machines. It is by a band called Depeche Mode who are from England, and are very big in electronic music. The cover version is very different, it's not got a synthesiser in sight, is done in a Bosa nova style and sung by a lady with a French accent, very different. What sounds and instruments can you hear? Which song do you enjoy the most? Apart from the words, what do the songs have in common?

Good morning. I hope everybody, out there, is doing okay?

Well, stage one of the lifting of lockdown happened yesterday. It did seem a little busier on the roads and there were slightly more people around in the village. Little miss Brown was allowed to go for a walk with her friend, at a two metre distance, and some people were allowed back to work.

I saw Kitty, briefly, as she came to pick up a new exercise book, it was great to see all of the work she had been doing.

I got some lyrics back yesterday, they were all amazing, so inventive. I can imagine us, in class singing them and enjoying how you'd changed the original words to something different and more personal. I'll put them in the gallery over the weekend and you can sing them at home.

The songs I'm sending today are, again, is the same song but different. It's called fell in love with a girl and the original is by a band called the White Stripes. They are a duo, and I've sent the video for you to watch because it's fab and all made out of lego! It might be something to try and replicate at home as it looks like the makers of it had lots of fun. The second version is by Joss Stone , and is very different. What can you hear? how have the changed it? which do you prefer?

Good morning, I hope you are all well.

I am loving seeing your examples of jazz art, you are producing some very interesting patterns, they are great. Remember that if you want to re-enact some album covers, you still can. As always, it's great to hear from you.

Today I am going to get you to listen to two versions of the same song, and compare them, today. The beauty of songs is, you can interpret them in many different ways. Yesterday, by the Beatles, has been covered 1600 times, and no I've not heard every version!

See what differences you can hear between these two versions of the same song. What is similar, how different are they? Which version do you prefer?

Good morning all. I hope you are okay.

Well, we did our family quiz yesterday. It was Little miss Brown and my turn to host. We did a song lyric and nursery rhyme round and a family answer smash, where the questions had two answers- one a member of the family and another that could smash into their name to produce a made up word, great fun.

So the song I am sending you today is one of my favourites. It's by a man called Damon, who is in a band called Blur and another band called Gorillaz, You may have heard of him? He was traveling and recording in Africa when he came to a village called Mkomazi in Tanzania. One morning, in the village arrived a baby elephant. The villages looked and looked for his mother, but they couldn't find her anywhere, so the villagers adopted him, and called him Mr Tembo ( Tembo is Tanzanian for elephant.)

Damon got to know Mr Tembo, and helped look after him. So he wrote a song about Mr Tembo, for his daughter, Missy, back home in England.

In the video, you can see Damon performing the song and some footage of Mr Tembo, running around the village, it's very sweet. Damon used traditional African sounds and an African choir in the song.

Good morning. Well it's the start of another new week, the birds are singing, and we are ready to go.

I was wondering why, when you record a message for your class, the video always pauses on a very unflattering point, which then becomes the first image, everybody sees! 

The song I am sending you today is a particular favourite of mine, it's called teardrop and has been covered by many people, but this is the original. it's an example of a genre of music called trip hop, it's like gentle dance music. Listen to the instruments, how is it being sung?

Hello,

I hope you all had an enjoyable V.E day and stayed safe. The bunting around the village looked amazing. 

I have continued to hear from lots of you, which is fantastic. I will put a gallery of album covers, festivals and other photos, up on here for Monday. You can still create and do any of the activities you want to and send them in.

So I thought I'd send you some dance music, as its the weekend. This is a song by Fatboy slim and it's video shows Christopher Walked, a Hollywood actor, dancing and flying around an office. Dance music has to have a very good rhythm and beat, to keep you dancing. This type of music often uses samples from other peoples songs, mixed together to create the music.

Good morning, I hope you are all okay.

Well, today would have been a day off school. The bank holiday Monday was changed, by the Queen no less, so we could celebrate V.E day, today. It is 75 years since the end of the second world war in Europe. It is a day for us to remember all of those people who fought for our freedom, who sacrificed themselves, so we could be free.

The song I'm sending you today is a very famous song, from 75 years ago, that was sung by people to help them get through the war. Its words are very significant today. There is bunting all around the village today, as a small celebration of V.E day, because in our tricky times we can't have the street parties and get togethers, that we had planned.

Good Morning.

Yesterday, on my walk with Luna, I was surprised to see, running towards me, a young deer. It ran up to me, quite close, saw me, and bolted off across the field, leaping the fences as though they weren't there. I guess that, as we are not seen as much as we used to be, nature is getting braver. 

So the song I've sent you today, is all about nature. It's a song by Paul McCartney, who was in the Beatles. He loved Rupert the bear, a comic strip character, and decided to write a song with him in mind. It's called the Frog chorus, and I've included the video because the two go together. Standing together is something we are doing now, in order to keep everyone safe and protect each other. Listen to the instruments, and voices that you can hear and think about the words, maybe you could sing along.

Good morning, I hope you are okay.

Well, I've had some fantastic work sent over this week, I can't wait to put together our gallery of album covers and festivals, it's going to be a cracker!

I went into school yesterday. it's very sad and lonely to be there without all of you guys giving it it's soul. I went to plant the potatoes that we started with class 1. They were growing out of their bags, so I have planted them in one of the raised beds, in class 1's outdoor area. Hopefully, we'll all get to dig them up, when they are ready. So today we've got the blues. The Blues originated in the Deep South of the U.S.A at the turn of the last century. It was played mostly on guitar, sometimes on piano and sometimes with a harmonica, by people who were struggling, having a hard time. They didn't have much but played songs to tell of their hardship. Over the years it changed and mixed with gospel music and jazz and morphed into rock and roll. See what you think.

Good morning everybody, are you all okay?

I can see that you are all enjoying our topic, at the moment. Already this week, I have been lucky enough to share lots of your festival ideas and album covers. Keep them coming they are all brilliant, and make me beam from ear to ear. I am sending them all to Mrs Humberstone and Mrs Smith, and I know they are loving them too. It's strange to share one of my favourite things with you all, and not be all in the same room, but that's the power of music, it brings people together and makes them happy, whatever the situation.

The song I've sent you today is a country song. Now this is a very American type of music, it's massive over there. In this country we can bare some of it in small doses! Some people not at all. This is a song by one of my favourite bands, whose roots are in country, blues and rock and roll. This is a happy song and talks about being together someday soon. Here's hoping! Listen for the traditional country music instruments, the slide guitar, banjos and acoustic guitar.

I hope you are all well. So we come to the end of our pop music week. We are now in the 2010s. This id your decade, you will probably know more pop songs from this decade than I do! We have Adele, Happy by Pharrell Williams and Bruno Marrs. I've included Taylor Swift for you today, Its a great Pop song and I am sure you know It well. Who knows what is going to happen with pop music in the 2020s, That is the decade you will be teenagers and so the pop music will be just for you!

Hello, everyone alright? good.

I'll start with a message from Kitty, she told me yesterday that TT rockstars have changed their costumes, so you can now be a doctor or a nurse, in support of the NHS. Brilliant. Also have you seen what Tilly has been doing? Inspired by Mrs Humberstone's message, and Colonel Tom, she is doing a marathon, around her garden, in 5 days. Great work Tilly. I've sent you all Lyla's powerpoint on music genres today, its brilliant! Lyla you even got in shoe gazing which was a particularly favourite of mine when I was younger, great work. I am going to collect all of the work that you have been sending me and put it into a gallery, for us all to share. I am also pleased to tell you that I'm back on Education city, as me! Its taken a while because of the way the world works, at the moment, but you'll find some maths and some science as well.

So on to the 90s. Pop music was dominated by girl and boy bands like Take that and the Spice girls. Right said Fred hit the top of the charts and there was the famous feud between Oasis and Blur. I've included the song Never ever by the girl group All saints and Lovefool by the cardigans. Which do you prefer? Do these songs sound like pop songs from the past? Do they sound like pop songs from today?

Hello, good morning.

Well that's April nearly done! What will May bring?

I hope you are all doing okay, out there.

I've been learning new skills, how to colour and cut hair. Don't worry, I won't be changing careers, I wasn't the best at it, and little miss Brown had to take over!  We got there together and no-one in the house has wonky, pink hair (yet!).

So now we are on to the 1980s, a very good decade for Pop music. We had lots of electronic  instruments in the 80s, synthesisers, electric drums and sampling. We had New Romantics, Stock, Akin and Waterman and jingly, jangly indie rock, and you also had Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna. 

If you look at the 80s you will see lots of vivid colours, lots of strange dances and some very wacky fashion choices! Ask your parents what their favourite 80s sounds were, you might like some of them and be able to add them to you playlist.

The 1980s is also when music videos became popular and very important for promoting pop songs. The song I've sent you today has a very popular music video that almost became as famous as the song itself.  The song is called 'Take on me" by a band , from Norway, called Aha. See what you think. Hello, good morning. Are we all okay? 

So, I hope you enjoyed listening to the Beatles, yesterday. That song was from the beginning of their chart topping career. They were only making records for 8 years and they changed a lot over that time. Lots of songs today have been influenced by the Beatles. Thank you to Megan and her big sister Amber for sending me a picture of the Beatles first album. That is a vinyl record, the only way of buying music in the 1960s, wonderful.

So that leads us on to the 1970s. I could have sent you a glam rock song or a funky song. I could have introduced you to Heavy rock or disco. However there is one band that sum up the 70s. They won the Eurovision song contest and then went on to be successful all around the world. They come from Sweden and are called ABBA. Have you heard of them, I bet you have. So how does this song make you feel? Does it make you want to dance? What instruments can you hear? Is there just one person singing? Listen to other ABBA songs and see which one you like the best. Can you find out how they got their name?

Good morning everybody, how are we all doing today?

It was great to hear from some of you yesterday, I hope you enjoyed the poem about the sound collector and dancing to Elvis Presley.

Today's song is from the 1960s. Now the 1960s is when Pop music became massive around the world, and there was one band who were so popular they changed music forever. You can't talk about music in the 1960s without talking about the Beatles. Their songs are as popular today as they were back then and choosing just one for you to listen to, is almost impossible. They are the first band I remember listening to, I remember the apple, in the middle of my Uncle's copy of 'Abbey Road' spinning round and being taken over by the wonderful sounds that I could hear. I was hooked. I was only 4 and the Beatles had split up years before.

So I thought I'd let you listen to one of their early, more poppy hits as you've already heard a version of 'Hey Jude.' last week. 'Please, please me' was their first number one and was released in 1963. They were very much influenced by Elvis, can you hear any similarities? Can you dance to it? what instruments can you hear? Do you know any other Beatles songs? what is your favourite?

As a treat I have also included another Beatles song, performed in lockdown, by a band called "The Ruby Tuesdays'. Now, the special thing about this band is that my nephew, Matty, is the bass player! Can you spot him? What do you think?

Good Morning, Monday is here again.

As you can see I've left you lots of things to be getting on with this week, lots of fun activities to keep you learning and hopefully having fun too.

I am going to start this week by looking at Pop songs. These are the popular songs of the day, usually for teenagers and usually about love. I am going to start in the 1950s, where pop music really began with the advent of the 7 inch single, a small round disc with one song on the A-side and one song on the B-side. The song I am sending you today is by Elvis Presley the first real pop idol. its called Hound dog and was released in 1956. Enjoy!

Good morning and happy Sunday.

The days are drifting on, and it looks like the sun will be shining again today, which always helps.

I have sent you one of my favourite classical pieces of music, for you to listen to, today. It is a beautiful piano piece called Opus 20, its by a composer called Dustin O'Hanrahan, he composes lots of music for films. His music is atmospheric and peaceful. I hope you enjoy it.

Good morning all.

Well, yesterday I saw lots of people from our lovely school. I was doing my shift in the shop and saw Mrs Allan, and Annie from class one. Then, on my daily walk I saw Hugo and Ivy, Mrs Mathews and Jamie, Mrs Adams and Mrs Smith! It was great to see everybody, obviously we had to talk at distance but it was still great.

Good morning.

We've been very lucky with the weather this week, its been lovely and sunny, a little windy, but at least we can go outside and see spring, springing up around us.

I had a very busy day yesterday. I had the film Mrs Brown, doing a crochet demonstration, for the internet; I had to help Mr Brown jnr. with his oh so hard GCSE maths, The circumference and area of a circle and I had to go to Tesco, which turned out to be okay.

Good morning, are we all well?

So I have been walking around the village, on my, one hour a day, daily exercise, and I always try to spot the rainbows. There are lots now, all over the village. There seems to be more and more each day, which is brilliant. I have heard others spotting them too. Some are hard to see, because not every door is visible, but I'd say there are about 50 woollen rainbows now. Brilliant.

Today's song is jazz. Now jazz is not always everybody's cup of tea. It can be sometimes hard to listen to, it can be long and complicated. It usually involves pianos, double bass, saxophone, guitar and drums, but lots of other instruments can be used. In jazz the musicians improvise, so they make it up as they go along. Some people say jazz uses too many notes! So what do you think? What do you enjoy about this track, what would you change? Do you think the musicians are making it up or are the just playing around?

Hello, hello, hello. How is everyone? 

It was great to see lots of work going on yesterday, I hope you are all enjoying the topic. Don't forget to gather songs you like, for your own playlists. You may love some of the songs I send you but some, not so much, but that's fine. We all like different things and music is so diverse, that there is always something for someone. The song I am sending you today is a little bit quirky, a little bit strange. Its an alternative song, but it did get in to the charts when it was first realised. It is called 'The Caterpillar' and it's by a band called The Cure. They are a band that sometimes do gloomy songs, sometimes they do poppy songs, but they always have big hair! Listen to what instruments you can hear. At the beginning of the song, why do you think they are playing in that way? It almost sounds as if they are playing badly on purpose! Can you Hera the instruments trying to sound like butterflies? See what you think.

Hello, Good morning.

Well how did you get on with your first day back at home school? I hope all of the work was okay?

 From today I will be adding daily S.P.a.G lessons and some other things too.

Here, in Brown world ( thats how it feels in isolation!), we had our family quiz last night, with my mum and dad; sister's family in Blackburn and my other sister's family in Winchester and very strangely we all got 31 out of 50, what are the chances of that! You'll be happy to know Little miss Brown, Mrs Brown and I won on a tiebreak.

So, the song I've chosen for today is called 'Three little birds by Bob Marley' and its a reggae song. This is music that first came from Jamaica and became very popular in Britain in the 1970s. I think the lyrics to this song are very poignant for how we are living at the moment.  I hope it sends a positive message to you-ou-ou, Enjoy!

Hello,

I hope you are all well. It's Sunday again, we should all be having that Sunday feeling, the last day of our holidays, preparing for school, sorting uniform, but no it's all very different now. You will have some new work, tomorrow. I will send you a weekly plan with activities and projects. Education city does not recognise me, for some reason, it thinks I don't exist! which is a little insulting. It is in the process of being fixed. I'll let you know when that's all done. Hello, happy Saturday.

I hope you are all well. I am sat here with Frank, he looking out of the window, on to the quiet streets, yawning to himself and having a little stretch. I think our animals are loving the calmness, the quiet roads, us being at home to give them attention, they seem somehow to be around more too. 

I will be sending you some more work on Monday, we are starting a new topic, which is very exciting. Instead of going into school and preparing the classroom, I am looking at ways of sending you all the information, each day. Instead of information posters, on the walls, you'll get information messages on the blog. Instead of work up on the walls, I will post it for us all to see. At least here, our screen works!

Good morning all. Are you enjoying the sunshine?

The Brown's barbers opened the other day. We all had our hair cut in the kitchen, which was a first. Mr Brown jnr. had his hair shaved, at the Back and sides, and decided that he didn't need to go to the hair dressers again. Little Miss Brown tried to cut her own hair, but found it very hard to get the back straight, so had to get her mum to do it and I just had a trim. 

Have you watched Megan and Amber's stop motion video? I've uploaded it on here for you. It wasn't working at first, but I've fixed it. It's fab, if you'd like it give it a go, it looks great fun!

It seems that more and more woollen rainbows have been appearing on peoples doors, around the village. They look amazing. Have you spotted any?

I've added a terrific scientific lesson for you to watch. It's not live, obviously, but I think you'll enjoy it.

Good morning everybody, are you staying safe? Good.

Well the rainbow fairy of Tealby has been busy. There are more and more rainbows everyday. They seem to just be appearing on peoples doors. They are a symbol of the NHS and staying safe. I saw Erin Waud, who has been doing some fantastic work, helping her dad with his wonderful photos. She was looking for rainbows, around the village, and when she got home, she found one on her own door!

I also saw Hugo and Ivy, yesterday, from a distance, obviously. They walked past Mr Brown jnr. and little miss Brown who had been on their daily walk, to Rabbit Valley. They had found a rabbit that was in a bad way, and had decided to try and rescue it. They wrapped it up warm and brought it home, but unfortunately it did not survive. At least they tried and gave it a fighting chance.

I hope to hear you all clapping for the NHS, tonight. It's become a very important date in our week, and it is very important to show our appreciation for everyone who is helping us at this time.

Hello, good morning.

Well, today looks like it may be great weather. This time of year it can be either sunny or cold, sometimes in the same day! As you can see, Mrs Humberstone has found, a time capsule for you to fill in. We have given it to everyone to do to mark this historical event, we are living through. Time capsules are brilliant for showing a snap-shot in time that we can look back on. Sometimes it's interesting to look back at what was relevent at different times. Things move and change so quickly, It's great to look back. I have a box, from when Amber and George were born, with photos, pieces of clothing and even the songs that were in the chart, when Amber was born.

So fill in your time capsule, so we can look back and remember, when all of this is over.

Good morning and hello. It seems like ages, how have you been? I hope you all enjoyed your Easter weekend. When I was younger we would always go to the fair on Easter Monday. It would be set up in a local park, and my family and I would go and have candy floss and have a spin on a few rides. Very different this year, no fairs, no leaving the house, but at least the chocolate hasn't run out!

Hopefully the weather will be fine this week and we can get out for our daily exercise.

Here in Tealby mysterious woollen rainbows have started to appear, around the village. more and more appear each day. Now the rainbow has become the symbol of staying safe and protecting the NHS, so see if you can spot them when you go for your daily exercise.

Hello, 

I hope everyone is doing okay?

Did you enjoy the photography lesson, from yesterday? I thought it was really great. I hope you will mange to take some really interesting photographs, of the things that are going on in this strange time. Photographs are another way of documenting a time. Lots of history books can only show pictures but after the invention of the camera, we could start to see exactly how things were. But don't be fooled, the camera can sometimes trick you into thinking something is real, when its not.

I can't send any messages over the weekend, as the website is having some maintenance, so I will write again on Monday.

Hello,

I've just had my breakfast in the garden, being stared at by Luna, ball at her feet, ready to play!

It's a bit early for that.

I hope you are all looking forward to Easter, this weekend. It's the end of Lent, so if you did give anything up, you can start doing it again, if you want too. You may decide, you were better off without it and stop, it's up to you. What ever happens, enjoy and don't eat too many Easter eggs!

I went to get eggs for Mr Brown jnr. and little miss Brown, yesterday. They usually have an Easter egg hunt, with their cousins, I know they seem too old for all of that, but it's tradition. We are going to do it on-line and then have a family meal, virtually. I'll let you know how it goes.

"I want you," Crocodile declared, "to do the back ones first.

The molars at the very back are easily the worst."

The dentist kept himself well clear. He stood two yards away.

He chose the longest probe he had to search out the decay.

"I said to do the back ones first!" the Crocodile called out.

"You're much too far away, dear sir, to see what you're about.

To do the back ones properly you've got to put your head

Deep down inside my great big mouth," the grinning Crocky said.

The poor old dentist wrung his hands and, weeping in despair,

He cried, "No no! I see them all extremely well from here!"

Just then, in burst a lady, in her hands a golden chain.

She cried, "Oh Croc, you naughty boy, you're playing tricks again!"

"Watch out!" the dentist shrieked and started climbing up the wall.

"He's after me! He's after you! He's going to eat us all!"

"Don't be a twit," the lady said, and flashed a gorgeous smile.

"He's harmless. He's my little pet, my lovely crocodile."

Good morning class 2, I hope you are well.

So we had our weekly, family quiz again, the other night. It was great fun. my nephews, Will (year 4) and Sammy ( year 3), set some of the questions. Will did football and Sam computer games. We also had a Harry Potter round and a books round. The picture round was logos, from things my sister found in her kitchen cupboards. Amber and I kept up our winning streak, thats 2 out of 2! It's our turn next. Ill let you know how it goes, and maybe test some questions out on you.

I had a lovely message from Megan yesterday. She had written a great piece on Romeo and Juliet and also baked a lemon drizzle cake, that ended up on my doorstep! It was amazing and won't last long in this house.

Hello,

As I sit and write I can hear the dustmen, clattering and banging, but doing a really important job. Just imagine what would happen, if they stopped! The world would be filled with rubbish in no time. It is very important that we think about all of the people, who make our lives easier and helping us all of the time, without us even noticing, sometimes. So try to think of all those people who contribute to our lives and help things run a little smoother.

I hope you are enjoying your Easter holidays and are keeping yourselves active and entertained. I've added another art clip, for you to enjoy and maybe have a go at. Today it is drawing self-portraits, maybe you can have a go and send me a copy, and see if I can guess who it is?

Hello,

Now, as I wake up, in our very strange, Easter holidays, it's raining. That will never do, I was going to put our tent out!

The weather is going to be great this weekend, so I thought of putting up my tent, so that Mr Brown jnr. can have a change of space and get some fresh air!

Hello everyone, how are we all doing? Good I hope.

So today, we would be on holiday, today is the start of the Easter holidays. It is Good Friday next Friday, where Christians believed that Jesus was crucified on the cross. It Is one of the most important days in the Christian calendar. 

Has anyone seen the photo, that Erin Waud's dad has taken? I know some of you are on it, it is brilliant. He has been going around the village and taking photos of us (from a safe distance) at home. When its fully complete I'll post a picture of it on here.

I've added another Shakespeare for you today, the Tempest, which I am sure you will love.

Morning class two, did anyone spot my April fool yesterday? It wasn't Tuesday, hilarious!

Any way I hope you are all doing okay? I received a few more Emails yesterday, which were brilliant. It just goes to show how hard you are all working and I love to see your work.

I hope you all got your eggtastics done? I can't wait to see them. Mrs Humberstone is going to have a very hard task in judging them!

I've added today a live lesson from BBC teach. It's not live anymore, obviously, but I thought you might like it. I've also added another maths mystery ( as I know some of you really like them!)

Good morning everyone, now today's the day for tricking your friends and family. I may run upstairs and tell Mr Brown jnr. that he has a massive box delivered, and see his groggy, confused face, when there is no-one at the door. Or I could could tell Little miss Brown that Luna's had puppies, and see how she reacts. But, in these strange times, with nowhere to escape, and knowing that we have to be together, I don't think I will, for my own safety! 

The precise origins of April Fools' Day, or All Fools' Day, is uncertain. But it seems to be a largely European tradition which became popular during the 16th century. 

Some believe the day may have its origins in the Roman festival of Hilaria, which was usually held around the time of the spring equinox, and traditionally included games processions and masquerades, which gave the hoi-polloi (the common folk!) the opportunity to impersonate the nobility, sometimes with amusing consequences.

In France, today is called Poisson d'Avril. French children try and pin a paper fish, secretly, on to each others backs. If they are successful they shout "Poisson d'Avril" which means fish of April.

Hello, and good morning. The sun is trying to poke his head out, and it sort of looks like spring.

I did a quiz last night, with my family across the country, it was great fun. See if you can set some questions for your friends and family and arrange to ask them over the internet. You could have categories, we had: general knowledge; Harry Potter ( Amber was great at that!); famous faces when they were young and children's toys. You could try anything you wanted. Oh and by the way, of course my team won!

The weather this morning is a little grey and a little cooler, the wind is up so working outside may be a challenge.

Today, try and find out how something, in the house, works. I don't mean take it apart! Look it up on the internet or in a book. It might be a phone, the toaster or your television, you decide.

Good morning Class 2. Are we all okay?

Well, at least yesterday was a beautiful day, for being outside and hearing the bird song. Today I would like you to look for signs of spring. What is coming to life, what's starting to grow? Can you see the buds on the trees; the insects starting to emerge?

I am venturing out today to help in the village shop. It's important to help make sure everyone can access the normal things in life, at this extraordinary time.

Definition : eat with speed, hungrily.
The book was finished, she had devoured it.

Good Morning class 2, how are we all? Good, I hope.

The sky is blue and the birds are singing.

Listen. What can you hear? No, really listen. For a few minutes.

I can hear the buzz of the fridge, the birds twittering, the hum of the boiler. 

Today I want you to listen and write a poem about what you can hear and what you would hear if the world was normal and everybody was going about their lives, as they should.

Good morning class 2. Are we all well? I am sat here, looking at our closed school, on a beautiful, if a little chilly, spring day listening to the birds singing and getting on with their day.

Today I would like you to do a survey of the birds you see, from your house. Do you know what they are called? How many different species can you identify? Are there any you don't recognise? Take a note each day. Does it change from day to day? Make a tally chart, each day, and make me a graph. You can decided which criteria you use: colour, species, song, size or one you come up with. You can research any of the birds you see and produce a fact file.

Tuesday 24th March 2020

Good morning class 2, I hope you are all staying well. 

Now, I know that Education city has been a little hard to get on to, due to all of the children all over the country trying to access it, but keep persevering, there are some really great activities on there.

I am also aware that it looks like your work has been set by Mr Popperwell. This is me, its a little glitch in the system, but rest assured, it is me.

I am self isolating at home with Mrs Brown, Mr Brown junior, little Miss Brown, Luna, Yoko and Frank. I have had to start teaching Mr Brown junior. I am getting quite good at GCSE biology!

I hope you have all tried out the Joe Wicks exercises, they are fab!

I saw a wonderful video of some children reading to their grandparents over the internet, that would be a fantastic thing to do, to keep you reading and help you keep you in touch with your relatives. Give it a go, and let me know how you get on.

Hello Year 3.

I hope you are all well.

This week I have set you some work to complete at home.

Maths:

I have put together some fraction activities, in Education City, that carry on from where we were in school. You can also practice  those all important times tables, in TT Rock Stars.

English:

There are some S.P.a.G activities for you to complete in Education City. see how many you can complete each day.

Read daily, read anything: fiction, non-fiction, comics or newspapers; it's all good practice, educational and lots of fun.

If you want to practice your reading skills I have set you some comprehension activities for you to have a go at.

Topic: Research the Roman Gods. How do they differ from the Greek gods you looked at last year? Make me a poster show what was the same and what was different.
