Find out what has been happening in school this week.
We thoroughly enjoyed our platinum jubilee celebrations on Friday. We all came to school in red, white and blue, decorated placemats and enjoyed a special street party style lunch!
(Some of us even made and wore our own crowns!)
Happy Platinum Jubilee!
Class3 learnt today about sounds vibrations and how sound travels. They listened to and listed different sounds they could identify outside within 2 minutes. When we came back indoors, the children investigated how vibrations make sound, using drums and corn and a tuning fork tapped against the desk top (for this they were able to both hear and feel the sound vibrations). By holding hands in a circle they were able to make a buzzer sound which stopped if anyone broke the circuit. Lots of laughter and questions and a bit of hand dancing to make a buzzer rhythm!
Class One have been using our temporary woodwork set up! They worked together to carefully sand wood, drill holes and hammer in nails.
A walk in the woods to talk about the importance of water and the use of plants today. The children all listened really well, and followed instructions. We made a drink from the leaves we collected, had a few games of Eagle Eye and learned how to shoot bows and arrows. A really full and interesting day with brilliant behaviour and attitude from all of Y1.
Class 2 went for a walk down to the ford looking for life in the water. Obviously we also had to play a game of Pooh sticks! Only a few wet feet!
Following our trip to the garden centre last week, Y6 planted up the tub and hanging basket ready to be collected next week for the garden fair. A quick bit of planning and placing before planting meant the result looks great!
On Thursday, Year 4/5’s enjoyed playing recorders again. They remembered a lot of the techniques they had been taught from 2 years ago when they were last able to play. A great session. Well done!
