  Year 1 went down to the woods today and we had a brilliant time. There were great listening skills shown while Maria explained the way we work in the woods.

  Once we had heard the rules and safety we started on the days activity. A big days work was ahead so we started by making bacon sandwiches. The children cooked their own bacon over the fire and enjoyed their second breakfast.

  Shelter building next. The group looked around the demonstration shelters then, once the method had been explained they set to work.

  I can honestly say Year 1 built the best shelter we have seen in a very long time. The construction was solid and the cover was thick. The adults were very impressed indeed.

  Our day ended with a couple of games of Eagle Eye which was a lot of fun.
