  • Victorian Day

    Thu 09 Feb 2023

We had a fabulous Victorian day in Class 1! We had a class full of chimney sweeps, maids and Victorian children.

We made our own sandwiches and lemonade to enjoy at our tea party. They went down very well!

  • 2023 Big Birdwatch

    Fri 03 Feb 2023

Classes 3 and 4 have been preparing bird feeders over the last few weeks in preparation for the big birdwatch.

On Wednesday this week, we headed to the roundhouse on the field with binoculars, books and clipboards to record our findings.

Typically, we were hampered slightly by workmen with power tools across the road and a fairly strong wind but we managed to spot a nice variety of birds including robin( he likes to follow us around when we are on the field), blackbirds, blue tits, pigeons and a seagull that after a lot of discussion and argument, actually turned out to be some plastic in the goal post!
The children seemed to enjoy a spot of birdwatching and hopefully we have some budding twitchers in school.

  • Year 3 forest school

    Fri 03 Feb 2023

It has been the turn of Y 3 for forest school during this half term. We have used a fallen pine tree to make a shelter with the children sawing the branches off for us to use, learnt how to make a fire( more of that next week), had a go at flint napping to make hand axes, played Eagle eye and this week we tackled the subject of food before learning and practicing knife skills ahead of next weeks project.
Food week can be difficult, but as ever the children listened, asked excellent questions and treated the animal with respect in a calm and quiet way. Two rabbits were skinned and prepared for cooking. Those who wanted to get involved did so. Later in the day, after the rabbits were cooked in a Dutch oven, those who wanted to try it, did. They really enjoyed the food, asking for more. I was very proud of our Y3 s and how they reacted.
